Irish flag
The national flag of the Republic of Ireland is tricolor : green, white and orange vertical bands.
Each color has an historical meaning. The green represents the Roman Catholic, whereas orange is the color associated with Protestantism and the white in the centre symbolizes the two cultures and the fact to live together in peace.
This flag was first used in 1848 by Thomas Francis Meagher. However, it was adopted in 1919 by the Irish Republic during its war of independence.
