Temple bar

This district owes its name to the rector of Trinity College, William Temple who had his residence and gardens here in the early 17th century. By the end of the 17th century after have been rehabilitated and renovated, the area had acquired the name « Temple Bar ».

Temple Bar is located in downtown Dublin. This district is a short distance from O’Connell Street, in fact, it is between Fleet Street and Dame Street. It is located on the south side of the Liffey river. This quartier is constituted essentially of the pedestrian streets. The name of the main street is : Temple Bar Street. This district is well known for its nightlife but it is also pleasant to discover it during the day.

Musicians and street artists are there all times of day and night that create a pleasant atmosphere. On top of that, there a lot of bars : this district has the largest number of pubs per square meter ! There are also plenty of restaurants, clubs, small boutiques and a street market every saturday from 10:00 to 16:30, the place to go for artisanal Irish food products.

The only problem of Temple Bar is the crowd, there are a lot of people on the street and in pubs. However, this is one of the place to go when you visit Dublin. If you are looking to a pleasant and lively district go there ! Excellent for listening music, taking a beer, a glass of whiskey or something to eat, you have just to enjoy the moment ! It is a little bit expansive, it’s not the best value for money but it's worth a visit at least once trust me !
