The accomodation

At first I was supposed to take a shared apartment with a French friend and some multilingual students. However, all the people around me who lived in Dublin for study, told me I should rent a room in the campus. On the one hand it is a good way to meet people of different nationalities to ameliorate my English and on the other hand it is very hard to find an apartment for only four months in Dublin.

Eventually, I followed their advice, I now actually live on Griffith College campus. I asked to be with my French friend in the same apartment. Before leaving Paris we promised that we would speak together only in English and with some luck we would have two lovely room-mates. I don’t hide the fact that we speak French half of the time even if we try to make a serious and genuine effort. We share the same bedroom and we have two Chines room-mates in the other room. We don’t see them a lot and they don’t speak English very well. I don’t appreciate these girls, they are dirty, they take nearly all the kitchen cupboards, all the fridge and they rarely clean the kitchen. We share simply the kitchen. Fortunately, we have not the same bathroom, we have our own bedroom.

It is composed of a shower, a toilet and a lavabo. It’s not very spacious but it is sufficient. Our bedroom is bigger than I had imagined. There are two single beds, two desks and a capacious cabinet to stock our clothes.

In the kitchen we have a little fridge (in my opinion it’s too small for four people), four hotplates, cupboards, a table, a coffee table and two sofas. I don’t like the decoration very much but it’s acceptable.

In France, I have my own bedroom, approximately the equivalent size but I don’t share it. The main thing which I miss is my huge TV, it’s more comfortable to watch movies on than on my computer.

In Paris I live in an apartment on the fifth floor with my parents and my sister. I have always lived there. It is located in the centre of the city, it is very practical to go everywhere, I have a lot of choices of subways. In Dublin I’m 20 minutes from the city centre, it is not really a problem because when I am abroad I love to walk around.
